It was a quiet evening, alone. I baked a tart for a family gathering tomorrow morning and watched Trixie Mattel on YouTube as I made a sushi bake for dinner. I didn’t end up eating it tonight, but I figured Amin and I could eat it for lunch tomorrow.
Earlier today, I caught up with Priscilla, a college friend of many years, over a cup of coffee and a spinach and bacon omelet from a local bistro. I found out she’s going on an exciting trip soon and has been getting into ethereal music lately. I’m creating a Spotify playlist for her to introduce her to composers she might not have heard of, one of which is Max Richter.
Although we finished our breakfast within the first half-hour, we sat there talking for about three hours total. People came and went and seemed anxious for us to leave to make the table available. After breakfast, we took a drive to the nearest Marshalls to browse and then made our way to a boba shop across the street—boba being one of Priscilla’s favorite snack drinks.
It was a lovely day of friendship and conversation. The sun warmed us as we wrapped up our conversation outside of the boba shop. We wanted to see each other before my move away from Riverside this month.
This is news to you, but Amin and I are moving! We’re packing our belongings and moving from SoCal to NorCal at the end of November. We already have our new little home waiting for us to make our own, so expect updates as we figure things out and begin designing.
The one design project I’m looking forward to is our shared office space that will also serve as my little studio. I have plans for two desks—one for computer work and the other for painting/writing—so I can have designated spaces for each, similar to Austin Kleon’s new studio.
