Visiting Nest San Francisco

May 15, 2023

My favorite picture from this weekend is the one I took at Nest San Francisco, an antique shop in Pacific Heights. I captured needle-felted mice: a ballerina and a tennis player. They’re playful, whimsical, and creative—the three things I like. I can’t remember how much they were, but if I could take the ballerina home, I would.

Amin and I visited Nest after our picnic in the park since I’m researching stationery stores, coffee shops, and gift shops for my future stationery store. I liked how Nest is tastefully curated and how most items sold were unique. In their case, they imported items from different parts of the world. We came across greeting cards from the UK and, my favorite, cartoon-eyed coin purses and notebooks from Scotland; I yelped with joy when I saw them.

Aren't these the stinking cutest?

Nest does a great job transporting you to a place of wonder and whimsy. This is what is most important for a business, that it creates an experience for the customer. Each section of the store pulls you in to keep discovering more. It’s a place to lose track of time and get lost in the items for a while.
